What you should be seeing once it loads is the Salesforce CRM. We have the DaVinci softphone here on the left, and we’re using Genesys as the CTI.
Of course, this demonstration and global presence can work with any CRM and any CTI combination you have. Global Presence is this icon up here in the top right, and you can see that it says I’m ready — I’m logged in with my account in DaVinci.
Global Presence’s job is to manage presence. The “global” part means it’s not just reporting presence to and from DaVinci — it’s meant to unify the agent presence throughout the entire softphone.
You can see in Genesys that my presence is listed down here; it says I’m on queue. If I change my presence in Global Presence and set myself to “Not Ready,” for example, “Out to Lunch,” you’ll see that my presence also changes in Genesys.
It’s bi-directional, so if I change my presence in Genesys and set myself back to “Available,” my presence in Global Presence changes to “Ready.”
This is really useful when you have multiple CTIs or CRMs that track presence changes and report them. Global Presence makes it so agents don’t have to click around in multiple places just to update their status. They can do it once, and it propagates everywhere.
Another feature of Global Presence is that it shows the availability of other agents logged into DaVinci. You can see here that I have two agents — one on the left and one on the right.
If I set the left agent to “Not Ready,” the right agent can immediately see that status update and know the other agent is not available. When I set the left agent back to “Ready,” it’s instantly reflected on the right side as well.
This is really helpful when agents need to transfer or consult with other agents. They can see who’s available in real time and plan accordingly.
