Marketing and Finance Interns Gain Great Business ExperienceAugust 16, 2016Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our hardworking Marketing and Finance interns , Gordon and Teddy Grace, recently but asked them to share their thoughts regarding their internship with us. What were your responsibilities as an Intern this summer? Gordon: In the Marketing department, I generated new content for the company blog, newsletter, resource library, website, and SlideShare account. In addition, I focused on analyzing and collecting marketing and sales metrics from Google Analytics and Microsoft CRM. In the Finance department, I assisted with the ongoing cash to accrual basis accounting transition. On the HR side, I developed and utilized a new system to handle and calculate employee insurance renewals costs, and research benefits and hiring trends. Teddy Grace: This was my third summer interning with AMC and each year I’ve had different responsibilities. This year in particular, I focused mainly on managing our social media accounts and helping create marketing materials for our website. What was your favorite part of the internship? Gordon: I have had a wonderful, engaging time this summer. I felt like AMC gave me unparalleled access and opportunity to explore and learn about all facets of the business. Being a small company, AMC allowed me to experience and interact with so many different subject areas. I particularly enjoyed working with MSCRM and the marketing metrics data. Teddy Grace: I really loved that this internship allowed me to gain more insight into all aspects of the marketing department. As a rising senior in college, I’m really going to need that experience when I graduate so I’m really thankful AMC has given me the opportunity to have that knowledge under my belt. What lessons have you learned from your experience as an intern? Gordon: AMC has incredible people who want to help you and have you succeed, but it’s a two-way street with communication. No matter what job it is, ask someone if you need help, are curious about something, or want to learn something new. They’ll never know unless you ask. Teddy Grace: I’ve learned how important it is to really utilize the opportunities your internship gives you and try to learn the most you can from them. When I compare my tasks as an intern to those that other marketing internships expect, I realize AMC allowed me to acquire a broader range of business experience. How will this internship help you in the future? Gordon: The internship will benefit me enormously in the future. I’m starting my junior year now as a Finance major and will be interviewing with firms throughout the Fall. Any job, especially with finance, requires you to be able to process and analyze data to make recommendations. AMC Technology afforded me the opportunity to work with data ranging from website visitors to new revenue dollars to referral sources to insurance rates to national employer statistics. This sort of versatility gave me the experience and confidence to hone my analytical skills. Teddy Grace: Because of this internship, I am now able to refer to several projects with AMC that influenced their marketing strategies and sales. I think employers would be really impressed to see what I now have on my resume because of AMC. Any final thoughts? Gordon: Anyone who is interested in technology or technology companies should look into an internship with AMC Technology. The friendly, welcoming staff were a pleasure to work with, and I appreciate the experience as a whole immensely. Teddy Grace: I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I recommend it to anyone looking for an internship that will give them a hands-on experience. We can’t thank our interns enough for all of their hardwork this summer.
